When doing the 'First Steps' it is important to feel comfortable so boys could a few classes in just his white school shirt and some old shorts with bare feet, before progressing to a white polo shirt and normal School PE shorts. You can progress to ballet shoes if he begins to enjoy it more.
If you want to buy a T-shirt, these options are available or, of course, you can just utilise any T-shirt, or even a football shirt for example. Then when they have discovered they really like doing the ballet they can move on to.......
